ABOUT.png

Katarzyna Paluch is an artist - researcher specializing in movement improvisation and dance partnering. Her research focuses on the decision-making process, blending analytical thinking with the spontaneity that arises during improvisation. She seeks tools to navigate the complexities of improvisation, balancing control with letting go, and uses these dualities to enrich the creative process.

In 2024, she completed an MA in Contemporary Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg, defending her ongoing research in movement improvisation. She has received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, which supported her artistic research within her studies. In 2020, she completed a two-year performance and contemporary dance program at Performact in Portugal.

She manages her artistic work through her Swedish-based company and through Collective Nest, a Polish association with which she has co-organized 5 editions of DO Festival in Poland, an international two-week Festival dedicated to supporting freelance dancers and offering space for professional development.

Contribution to the local community in Malmö, Sweden
Katarzyna’s artistic work unfolds through residencies, workshops, and collaborations with both local communities and international partners. She values building new connections while nurturing long-term collaborations with artists and producers. Since settling in Malmö in 2023, she has been increasingly rooting her practice locally and continuing ongoing collaborations with local dance artists.

She performed as a dancer in Song of the Flesh, choreographed by Tuva Hilderbrand at Dansstationen, and has been teaching classes and workshops in Contact Improvisation and partnering techniques in collaboration with Benjamin Lindh Medin and Anna Wilhelmine Wallin. She also teaches floorwork and partnering at Danscentrum Syd, and hosts community projects such as Body Flow & Acro Lab, weekly open movement sessions in Slottsparken, and a summer studio residency for the local community at Danscentrum Syd.

Katarzyna is also engaged in the organizational work of festivals, including the Contact Improvisation Festival IMPULS (organized by Kimpro Malmö Association and the Reshuffling Dance Festival  (organized by Tuva Hilderbrand). She hosts residencies with invited international artists such as Paulina Będkowska, Aaron Lang, and Sebastian Ruiz, creating spaces where local dancers are invited to join research laboratories and workshops.
